Adventure Seeker

I'm not going to show up on your wedding day, snap a few photos, and leave. Your day is more than one big photoshoot. From the laughs to the happy tears, I want to freeze that moment in time for you to look back on for years to come.

If you have a specific vision in mind for your wedding photos, you can be sure I'll be equally determined to get that shot. Seeing each other for the first time in the middle of tall, wavy slot canyon walls? Done. Ceremony under natural, red-rock arches? Done. Saying your vows somewhere "on top of the world?" Done. Making your vision come to life is what motivates me the most.

The best way to find the hidden gem locations to elope is by physically exploring them. I've been dedicated to finding these spots since before I even started this business. There's nothing quite like experiencing a new place for the first time.

Being a mom of two pretty much qualifies me as the ultimate multi-tasker. I juggle everything and I'm always prepared for curveballs. Not only that, I know all the best tips and tricks to adventuring with little ones if you want yours to be apart of your day.

I'm Karen! I'm a...

We decided to have an impromptu elopement/micro wedding in Sedona and the only thing we really cared about was a great photographer! We found Karen and some of her work on an Arizona elopement group, I reached out to her immediately and within 24 hours we had our photographer booked. She was able to create a timeline for our day and she made sure that all of the shots we wanted we got. She made the day 100% about us, she captured the most intimate moments of us getting ready, the sweetest moments of our ceremony, she even had us have our first dance on the cliffs and the photos were stunning. I can hands down say she made our day perfect. My husband and I both expected a handful of framable photos and what we got blew our minds we want to display Every. Single. Photo.
Karen was so easy to work with and just blended in with our group seamlessly. If you’re in the market to elope I can not say enough good things about her and her work!

She made our day perfect

I am so glad that I stumbled across Karen Castor Photography!! She was absolutely one of the best photographers I've ever had the chance to work with! I loved that she was willing to go the distance for me and my fiance! Karen was very creative and had an amazing eye for the best shots!! We got to learn a whole bunch of new cool poses that turned out so beautiful! I would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for an elopement photographer!!!

Amazing eye for the best shots!

Karen was GREAT, we instantly connected. I had a vision of where I wanted to go for my bridal adventure session and Karen went the distance, quite literally, to get the shots I had envisioned. Hiking ~11 miles up mountains, to look outs and waterfalls. Taking on the heat and humidity like a boss. Communication was on point, never leaving me questioning details about our session. Loved finding sneak peak photos of our shoot on her social media outlets. Received our gallery in just under a month from our session. Seriously she was a dream to work with and would highly recommend to all who are looking for a photographer willing to go the distance.

Of course! How many guests you can have depends on the location you choose, but it's not uncommon that couples have their immediate family (parents + siblings) with them on their elopement day.

Can I have guests at my elopement?

My elopement guide is filled with tips and information I've learned through my own elopement and by photographing and helping previous couples with their elopements! It's almost 100 pages of information! Plus, I'll be here every step of the way, so you're not alone!

How do I plan an elopement?

One of my favorite wedding traditions is the first dance, so I basically require every couple I photograph to have their first dance after they elope. Usually as the sun sets, I'll put on your song and let you two have your moment. No posing or prompting, no other distractions, just the two of you. So if there's a tradition that's special to you- DO IT. Have your dad walk you down the 'aisle,' have family heirlooms, have someone say a speech, anything that would make your day even more special. It's your day. It can be whatever your hearts desire.

Can we still honor traditions?

YES! I know it may not seem it because eloping is so different from an actual wedding, but it is totally legal and making your marriage official in the eyes of the law depends on the location you decide to elope. For example, CO, PA, WI, and Washington DC are all self-solemnizing states which means no officiant or witnesses are required to become legally married.  In other states, they are. You can choose to have witnesses (I count as one) and an officiant tag along to your elopement destination or you can choose to handle the legalities before or after your adventure and not have to worry about other people on your day.

Is an elopement legal?

Talking for hours and dozing off with the tv on. The record skips a few times and we pick a new song to fall asleep to. Morning coffee, a few minutes late to work, a brisk walk down the street window shopping for the upcoming fall season. Wool sweaters, bare trees, cold nights.

Question 8

So cold we can see our breath as we hike the open fields in the fog. Climbing and chasing waterfalls while the sun sets behind the mountain and the snow falls in the river. Chatting with locals while we sip our coffee and head out for the next adventure.

Question 7

Morning coffee and reading the newspaper together, the cool fall breeze blowing through the window as you pour another cup. Black denim and leather boots, the deepest crimson flannel. Rose gold and velvet. Rich and lush. Red wine and dark twilight nights.

Question 6

Cozy sweaters, vintage demin, and Pabst while telling one of a kind love stories. The trials and tribulations of love, joy, and happiness. Lastly, champagne brunch and avocado toast while surrounded by the finest exposed brick, dreamcatchers, and maps to our souls.

Question 5
