Luana and Brian’s Southern Utah Sunrise Elopement was captured by Southern UT-based elopement photographer, Karen Castor Photography.
I had the opportunity to photograph this Southern Utah sunrise elopement. While my usual photography revolves around capturing couples in Arizona, this unique desert wedding holds a special place in my memories forever and ever.

Why did you choose to elope?
“Because of the beauty and practicality of organizing the wedding of our dreams. The place was chosen to be in our memories, like something different than everything we’ve ever done. A trip, a place, a good photographer and us, just being us, not worrying about a party, or about what to do next, just enjoying the moment and being grateful for the Love we share.”
How was your elopement?
“The day was amazing from the beginning at 3 a.m. when I was getting ready. I felt ready, complete, and happy. The trip, the views, everything was perfect, even the cold I felt wearing my wedding dress is something that I will never forget, the feeling of freezing and still warming from the moment. Sunrise was certainly my favorite part of the day, it was beautiful and exciting, and I felt emotional and grateful for nature and God’s gift.”
Do you have any regrets about your elopement?
“I would like to have chosen to take the night lantern pictures. Other than that, no regrets at all.”
What advice do you have for future couples looking to elope?
“Just do it. It is always about you and how you want to remember that day. And that’s nothing better than to share it only with your love.”

If you choose to have guests, a minimum of 2 hours would be dedicated to ceremony, guest portraits, travel time, and buffer room for traffic, hiking, delays, etc. This is based on past experiences with eloping with guests.
