Karen Castor Photography, a Southern Utah + Arizona-based Elopement Photographer, shares inspiration for a Moab All-Day Elopement that she had the opportunity to capture.
Stephanie and Jonathan celebrated their love in the breathtaking landscapes of Moab.
From the snowy red rocks of Arches National Park to the beautiful waters of the Colorado River, their elopement was filled with unique moments and unforgettable experiences.
AND I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO CAPTURE THEM ALL.
ALL-DAY ELOPEMENT IN MOAB, UTAHRECAP
Experiencing a Serene Sunrise at Arches National Park:
The day started with a beautiful sunrise at Arches National Park, which is a must-see for adventure lovers. The new snow made the red rocks look even more incredible.
Even though, as a Southern Utah-based elopement photographer, I work in Moab all of the time, I’m still amazed at just how breathtaking this area is.
Their elopement day was pretty chilly, but Stephanie and Jonathan didn’t let the cold bother them. They shared sweet looks when they first saw each other. Together, they explored the amazing arches and cuddled up under a warm blanket when it got a little too cold.
Pro Tip: Don’t forget to pack hand warmers to keep you comfortable during outdoor adventures in colder temperatures. Trust me! You will thank me later!
Breakfast Near Sand Dune Arch
As the sun made its way into the sky, Stephanie and Jonathan walked to Sand Dune Arch.
Together, we took some pictures to remember that part of their special day. From there, they sat on a blanket to eat a delicious breakfast. They had pastries and coffee in special mugs while enjoying the sunshine. As they ate, they reminisced on their favorite moments together.
They also made a small snowman and named it Roberto. It was a reference to an inside joke they had laughed about earlier.
Off-Roading to a Riverside Retreat:
Stephanie and Jonathan had a quick breakfast and got ready. They went to stay at a cool dome house they rented on Airbnb, right by the beautiful Colorado River. You might have seen it on TikTok because it went viral!
To get to the house, you had to do some off-roading. We drove on the bumpiest road and saw some wildlife as we passed. Although it was really far from everything, it was so peaceful.
Once they got comfortable, they began getting ready for their ceremony in Dead Horse State Park. Which, if you don’t know, is another one of my favorite spots!
An Intimate Ceremony at Dead Horse State Park:
Stephanie and Jonathan helped each other get dressed and then went to a peaceful spot near the water to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
When they were all set, they started a bumpy ride to Dead Horse State Park. During this time, the sun started setting which made everything look truly beautiful.
In this magical lighting, they said sweet promises to each other, their voices filled with happy tears and laughter. They gave each other rings to show their love and sealed their promise with a loving kiss.
Starlit Evening Under Nature’s Canopy
As the sun, a constant throughout this all-day elopement in Moab, said goodnight and hid behind the red rocks, Stephanie and Jonathan found a cozy spot in the park. As battery-powered lanterns surrounded them, Stephanie unveiled the most simple and beautiful cake.
They fed each other bites and waited for the stars to make an appearance.
After waiting for a while, they saw the first little twinkling stars. Then, they heard some noise nearby.
Unexpected Adventure with Wildlife:
I would be lying if I told you that we weren’t a little curious as to what was making the noise. However, as we looked around and saw some sort of animal, we got a bit scared. We knew that it could be dangerous and didn’t want to press our luck.
So, we did what any sane person would do and packed up.
Once we made it to the parking lot, Stephanie and Jonathan had their first dance as a married couple under the light of their Jeep headlights. As I witnessed them dancing under the beautiful starry sky, I could literally feel their love.
Stephanie and Jonathan’s Moab elopement was an incredible adventure, filled with breathtaking landscapes, heartfelt moments, and unexpected encounters (even if we never found out what the mystery animal was).
Their day was a testament to their love and shared spirit of adventure. As they said their final goodbyes to their all-day elopement in Moab, they carried with them memories that would last a lifetime.
