Kelsie and Matthew’s morning hike elopement in the Arizona desert was rooted in what they love most about being together. Adventure, travel, and shared experiences have always been central to their relationship, and their wedding day reflected that from start to finish.
By choosing to elope, they created a day that felt intimate, unrushed, and deeply personal, allowing them to focus entirely on one another and the experience they were stepping into together.
Words from the Couple About Their Morning Hike Elopement in the Arizona Desert
Why Did You Choose to Elope?
“We chose to elope because adventuring and traveling together is our favorite thing! We wanted a small, intimate experience between just the two of us.”
How Was Your Elopement?
“Our elopement was exactly what we wanted! Afterwards we kept saying we couldn’t believe how smoothly everything went. We chose a sunrise elopement, so our day started at about 1:30 AM, when Ash arrived at our Airbnb to do my hair and makeup. We then met Karen at our chosen location to start our hike at 4am. We got to the top a few minutes faster than expected, so we got to take the time to just soak in what we were about to experience. We changed and did a first look, exchanged private vows and took the most beautiful photos! Then we hiked back down to meet our officiant. After exchanging rings, we still got to do our first dance, and toast with champagne and donuts. We were surprised at how calm and at peace we felt with the whole process. Never once were we stressed or worried. We got to truly be present and devote this day to just the two of us without all the stressors of a big wedding. I would do it 1,000x over!”
Do You Have Any Regrets About Your Elopement?
“We have zero regrets! Our day went exactly how we envisioned, and Karen went above and beyond to ensure that we got the photos and moments we wanted to get. We still came home and had a reception to celebrate with our family and friends, but we will never regret choosing to elope and have that special time and exchange of vows between just the two of us.”
What Advice Do You Have for Future Couples Looking to Elope?
“DO IT!! And do it with Karen! Don’t stress. We had a 7 month engagement, and 3-4 planning calls with Karen in that time to discuss exactly what we wanted and to nail down all the details. Karen was also so quick to respond to my texts anytime I had questions! She allowed us to mail her my dry floral bouquet so that we wouldn’t have to travel with it. She just truly went above and beyond and I know she does for all of her couples!”
Elopement Review
“We had the most amazing elopement experience with Karen Castor Photography! The whole day was completely stress free, which allowed us to truly be present with one another. We had several planning calls prior to our big day, where we got to discuss our vision and nail down all of the details. Karen took care of coordinating the officiant and hair and makeup, which took a huge load off of us. Our day was so special and fun, and we got soo many amazing photos that are magazine worthy! We would do it 1,000x over, and have zero regrets! Karen truly went above and beyond to make sure our day went exactly how we wanted it to! We loved her!”
