Why Did You Choose to Elope?

“We wanted to be present and truly in the moment with each other on the day we got married. We didn’t want a production, and we didn’t want to rush or dilute visits with friends & family. Planned celebrations with them were happening afterward.”

How Was Your Elopement?

“It was perfect — honestly hard to put into words. Karen was incredible from start to finish: easy to work with, communicative, and full of thoughtful ideas that made the day feel effortless.

We started the morning hiking up Doe Mountain for sunrise “first looks” and private vows — just the two of us surrounded by that golden light. After our ceremony at Lover’s Knoll, we left Karen and our officiant to grab lunch and stopped for celebration donuts, only to have the person in front of us pay for our order. It felt like the universe was in on the celebration.

Next, we picked up our Jeep Rubicon rental and headed to an unplanned lunch where we were seated in a special booth with panoramic views. Sitting there in a suit and wedding dress at 11:30 a.m., watching people smile as they noticed us, was pure joy. Back at our Airbnb, we took a moment to reset and just soak it all in.

Later, we met up with Karen again and off-roaded up to Merry Go Round Rock. The trail was gnarly enough to have fun putting the Rubicon to work — such a blast. We stopped at a few rock formations for photos before reaching the top, where we explored, took more photos, and threw down a blanket to share our cake while the sun set. Before heading back down, we popped champagne and toasted to a day that met and exceeded our expectations.

“Nope. No regrets. Seriously.”

What Advice Do You Have for Future Couples Looking to Elope?

“Think about bringing some extra items that might be useful or fun: a blanket, “Just Married” signs, drinks, dessert, games, etc. Give yourself a full day before and after with no travel. In other words, don’t arrive the day before, and don’t depart the day after. We had extra days before and after our wedding day to explore Sedona. It just added to the whole amazing experience. It’ll let you settle in and be ready for the special day too.”
