Alyssa and Adam’s adventurous Sedona elopement was centered around the two things that define their relationship most: adventure and travel. Because of that, choosing to elope gave them the freedom to build a wedding day that felt completely their own, without a rigid timeline or expectations pulling them in different directions.
From the beginning, the day was designed to flow naturally. It started with a relaxed morning getting ready alongside their closest people, and then gradually shifted into the hike through the red rocks for their ceremony. As each part of the day unfolded, it continued to reflect the experience they had envisioned. In turn, their elopement created space for meaningful moments, time with family, and the kind of flexibility that allowed everything to feel both personal and unforced.
Words from the Couple About Their Adventurous Sedona Elopement
Why Did You Choose to Elope?
“Eloping was an easy choice for us as we both have a love for adventure and travel. By eloping, we were able to incorporate those two things into our special day. This also allowed us to make the day exactly how we wanted it to be with a lot of added flexibility. There was no rigidity and it wasn’t your typical “cookie cutter” wedding experience. It was all that WE wanted and nothing more!”
How Was Your Elopement?
“Our elopement from start to finish felt like our vision for our day had come to life. From the views from our AirBnb to the hike up to Yavapai Vista, our elopement truly encapsulated the definition of perfection. The morning started off with hair and makeup for the girls and golf for the guys, as that is Adam’s favorite pastime. The morning became afternoon with Adam getting his final look touched up by his parents and Alyssa getting the final look of herself in the dress before the big reveal.
Our first look was magical with the red rocks towering behind us at the AirBnb. Then it was time for the adventure! Our hike up to Yavapai Vista was followed by a beautiful ceremony with Alyssa’s father as the officiant. After the ceremony and family shots, we had a wonderful experience joining in with the spiritual dance group. Our final hours of the elopement were spent reading letters from loved ones, reading vows, doing our first dance, and admiring the views of the sunset on Babybell as a newly married couple. The evening breeze and colorful sunset felt like the perfect end to our special day — a day defined as magical and perfect.”
Do You Have Any Regrets About Your Elopement?
“ZERO! We find ourselves often reflecting on our day when we see others getting married and say to ourselves, “I am so glad we eloped and did it ‘our’ way.” This was hands down the best decision we made!”
What Advice Do You Have for Future Couples Looking to Elope?
“Just do it! Who cares what other people think, it is your day! You definitely will not regret it, we promise! Bring your vision to life and make it the day of your dreams. Oh yeah….and BOOK KAREN!”

“WOW! There is not enough words to describe how amazing Karen was for our elopement. From the moment we had our first planning call, Karen was ready to plan and execute the most amazing day for us and only us! She truly is the one for the job. Karen goes out and scouts the perfect places, trails, and overlooks to meet your own wants and needs for YOUR day. Each aspect of the day is personalized to you and only you. Her knowledge about the best areas, angles, etc. exceeds anything I have ever seen. She is so welcoming, easy going, and will find solutions to whatever you are dreaming of for your special day. I would pick Karen time and time again for my elopement. We are so pleased with the outcome and I know you will too!! -Alyssa”
A Photographer’s Perspective
Alyssa and Adam’s elopement is a strong example of how a well-planned timeline can hold both structure and flexibility at the same time. Throughout the day, there was time with family, space for quiet moments together, and an adventurous ceremony location, yet it never felt rushed or over-scheduled.
Beginning at their Airbnb created a relaxed setting for getting ready and for their first look. From there, the hike to Yavapai Vista naturally shifted the focus into the ceremony and celebration. Later in the day, ending at Baby Bell for sunset allowed them to slow down, read their vows and letters, and take in the landscape together as a married couple.
Ultimately, when couples build their day around what they genuinely enjoy and intentionally include the people and experiences that matter most, the result is a wedding day that feels personal, seamless, and true to them.
